As child participation is a key element in community engagement from a child rights perspective, and ICANN meeting has always been a very important platform to discuss internet issues. The first children’s Forum in ICANN was co-organized with child right organizations from the community from 7 to 11 April 2013 during the ICANN 46th Beijing meeting, children representatives from different children’s groups or child-led organizations from Armenia, Cambodia, Egypt, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mainland China, Switzerland and Uganda were invited to join. It was encouraged to discuss major Internet issues such as digital divide, Internet safety and Internet policies related to children among the children participants. After the event, DotKids Foundation continued to keep in touch with the participate organizations and we shared the vision to construct the “.kids” domain safeguarded by the guiding principles of UNCRC.
